See below for a list of program and individual awards received by the department!

Program awards/recognition received by the GLEAMNS CSBG/LIHEAP Department:

  • 2018
    • Innovative Program of the Year Award
      • This award recognizes a program exemplifying innovativeness that gave upward mobility to low-income communities and families and demonstrated collaborative efforts, self-sufficiency goals and positive impact on families during 2018. The South Carolina Community Action Partnership (SCCAP) awarded GLEAMNS with this award at the 2019 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.
         
  • 2016
    • CSBG/LIHEAP State of the State Award (new award)
      • This award recognizes an agency for excellence in delivering well-managed services for CSBG and LIHEAP programs. At this time, the "State of the State" was a new award and had never been given to an agency before. Even so, the South Carolina Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) awarded GLEAMNS with this first-time award at the 2017 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC!
         
  • 2015
    • CSBG Program of the Year
      • This annual award is given to the agency that exemplifies exceptional commitment in the management capability and service delivery of their CSBG program. The South Carolina Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) awarded GLEAMNS with this award at the 2016 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.
    • YLP Program of the Year
      • This award is given each year to the agency that exemplifies exceptional commitment in the management capability and service delivery of their Youth Leadership Program. The South Carolina Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) awarded GLEAMNS with this award at the 2016 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.
         

Individual awards/recognition received by GLEAMNS CSBG/LIHEAP Staff:

  • 2017
    • Staff of the Year Award, received by Pearlie Jones
      • This award is given to a Community Action staff member who has made extraordinary contributions, services, or activities on behalf of his or her agency over a period of time. The staff member received this award at the 2018 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. 
    • ROMA Certification Award, received by Zsaquez Flucker
      • This award is given in recognition of completing the requirements to become a Certified ROMA Trainer. The staff member participated in the National Peer to Peer project for Community Action network staff seeking professional certification and is now a Nationally Certified ROMA Trainer (NCRT). The staff member received this award at the 2018 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC during the ROMA Graduation Recognition Ceremony
         
  • 2016
    • Gilbert C. Zimmerman Award, received by Marcella Kennedy
      • This award is given to a Community Services Director and CSBG/LIHEAP Program Director that developed and implemented programs that have been successful in helping low-income individuals and communities. The staff member received this award at the 2017 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Charleston, SC. 
  • 2014
    • ROMA Certification Award, received by Ada Garcia and Marcella Kennedy
      • This award is given in recognition of completing the requirements to become a Certified ROMA Trainer. These staff members participated in the National Peer to Peer project for Community Action network staff seeking professional certification and are Nationally Certified ROMA Trainers (NCRT). The staff members received their awards at the 2014 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Mid-Fall Training Conference in Greenville, SC during the ROMA Graduation Recognition Ceremony.
         
  • 2011
    • Staff of the Year Award, received by Zsaquez Flucker
      • This award is presented to a Community Action employee who has made extraordinary contributions, services, or activities on behalf of his or her agency over a period of time. The staff member received this award at the 2012 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. 
         
  • 2010
    • Leadership Award, received by Columbus Stephens
      • The recipient of this award exhibited outstanding leadership qualities while working on various committees to improve the conditions of low-income individuals in the community. The staff member received this award at the 2010 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Mid-Fall Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. 
         
  • 2009
    • Charles H. Turner Career Development Award, received by Yamedra Lancaster
      • This award is presented to a Community Action employee who is either attending school or planning to attend college (by September of the program year). The award recipient also receives a $1500 scholarship to the school of his or her choice. The staff member received this award at the 2010 SCCAP & SCSHSA Annual Statewide Spring Training Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC.
