Commissioner Zebbie Goudelock admirably represented Newberry County on the GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission Board of Commissioners for over 11 years. Mr. Goudelock’s tenure on the GLEAMNS Board was both in representation of the Private and Low-Income sectors of Newberry County.
With varying interests, Mr. Goudelock served on a number of GLEAMNS Board committees. His understanding of process and procedures made him an effective member of the Board Bylaws Committee. He worked diligently to update needed provisions to ensure Board accountability and governance. He was also a member of the Human Resources Committee. His calm spirit and demeanor set the appropriate tone for resolving complicated employee matters or ensuring appropriate employee benefits. He last served on the GLEAMNS New Revenue Committee, a committee charged with helping the Board identify and pursue small fundraising ventures.
Betty Boles, Greenwood City Councilwoman and Chair of the GLEAMNS Board of Commissioners, reflects upon Commissioner Goudelock’s “willingness, always, to serve.” “Whenever he was needed, wherever he could assist, he was ready and he was willing to serve.”
Shunna Jeter, GLEAMNS CEO, recalls Mr. Goudelock as “one of the nicest people you can ever meet.” “His words were always encouraging and his support unwavering. Mr. Goudelock had a heart for people, especially young people, and it was reflected in his action.”
Commissioner Goudelock’s soft presence and welcoming demeanor will truly be missed on the GLEAMNS Board of Commissioners. We keep his wife, Ms. Alvena, and his host of family and friends in our prayers. We pray all who knew and loved him find comfort in knowing “to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
